How motivated are you?

If you are self motivated it means you have the ability to motivate yourself, having the strength and drive to achieve your personal goals without influence from anyone else. Your level of self motivation will determine your consistency to continue on your path without giving up when times are tough.

13-26 – Low
It appears that you allow doubts and fears to creep in and prevent you from achieving success. Perhaps you have experienced setbacks previously or you have lost some confidence along the way. Don’t worry, there are some simple but effective solutions to change this pattern and quickly! See below for advice.

Actions to improve your self motivation:

  • Reflect on your achievements so far, however small, write them down and remember the sense of achievement you felt.You must have a clear vision of what you want to achieve because if you don’t know where you are going, how will you know how to get there?

  • Evaluate your strengths, if you are not sure, ask those closest to you what they would consider your strengths (colleagues, employers, friends)

  • Set yourself SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time based)Mimic other successful people who have achieved similar goals.

  • Read autobiographies, go to networking or motivational events, self help guides.

  • Start to write a journal of your thoughts every day. Doing so will help you to turn any negative thoughts you may have into positive thoughts. If you do this everyday it will soon become a habit and you will be surprised at how quickly you will feel more positive.

  • Practice positive thinking techniques, through reading, audio, motivational quotes etc

  • Organise your time and resources as best as you can, things will run a lot smoother, pressure will be reduced and focus will be heightened.
